UNTITLED BRET HARRISON PROJECT |
| Posted by in Uncategorized |
UNTITLED BRET HARRISON PROJECT (CBS, New!) - “Reaper” alum Bret Harrison is set to write and star in a new multi-camera comedy at the Eye about “two district attorneys - one in his 20s (Harrison), the other in his 40s - and the woman between them.” The project, which has a script commitment, is set up at Universal Media Studios and feature producer Scott Stuber’s (”Love Happens”) Stuber Productions banner. Robert Borden (”The George Lopez Show”) is penning the half-hour off a story he co-wrote with Harrison. The writer/producer is also working on “Outsourced” for NBC and Universal Media Studios. The comedy, which he’s executive producing with Ken Kwapis, and the Harrison project are part of a two-script deal Borden has with the studio. [SOURCE]

In a sign that the ice between CBS and NBC Universal is thawing in the wake of NBC canceling the veteran CBS Studios-produced drama “Medium” in May, CBS has picked up a comedy project from Universal Media Studios headlined and co-created by “Reaper” star Bret Harrison.
The untitled project, which has received a script commitment, marks one of the first forays into television for feature producer Scott Stuber, whose Stuber Prods. has been ramping up TV development during the past several months under former 20th TV comedy head Quan Phung.
The multicamera comedy, based on an original idea by Harrison, revolves around two district attorneys — one in his 20s (Harrison), the other in his 40s — and the woman between them.
“It’s about smart, logical lawyers who realize that logic doesn’t work well in the messy and emotional realities of life,” Harrison said.
Harrison, who got his start in TV series at 18 with a regular role on the sitcom “Grounded for Life,” said he had been looking to do a buddy comedy and took the idea to Phung, with whom he had worked on several series including “Life” and “The Loop.”
Robert Borden is writing the script for the project based on a story he co-wrote with Harrison.
For Borden, who co-created “George Lopez,” the comedy is one of the projects under a premium two-project script deal with NBC. The other, “Outsourced,” is an NBC/UMS comedy he is executive producing with Ken Kwapis.
Stuber’s next film is “Love Happens,” which opens Sept. 18.
On the big screen, Harrison next appears in “Mardi Gras.”
Harrison, Borden and Kwapis are repped by UTA.

Reaper’s Bret Harrison Previews Season 2 |
| Posted by in Uncategorized |
Reaper returns tonight, after a nine-month hiatus (for us) and a month-long road trip (for the guys). What’s in store for Sam, Sock, Ben, Andi and the rest, and how do they fit into – or wiggle out of – the Devil’s plans? We went to Bret Harrison, the actor behind Sam, for scoop.
Warning: There are season 2 spoilers ahead. Don’t read if you don’t want to know!
First off, there’s tonight’s episode title: “Episode IV: A New Hope.” That’s not just for geek street cred (although we do appreciate that.) There’s a show-centric reason as well.
“Sam has new hope because he meets a guy, Alan, who has gotten out of his contract with the Devil,” Bret tells us. “The arc of the season overall is the driving factor of this Alan guy. Sam spends most of the season tracking him down and doing whatever he can to find out how Alan got out.”
Of course, Sam has other things on his mind, too. Last season, he learned that he was most likely the son of Satan. That means Sam faces danger from more than just escaped souls – he also has to dodge rebelling demons want to use Sam in their plans to overthrow the Devil. That makes things awkward for a certain set of lovebirds…
“Sam is on good terms with Andi, there’s a lot less back and forth, less hiding who he is and what he does, and Sam is excited to have that,” Bret says. “But Andi knows about my beinga bounty hunter for the devil, and she doesn’t know I’m the devil’s son. So that’s another secret – can I tell my girlfriend about this?” Read the rest of this entry »

Don’t forget to watch the new series of Reaper which airs tonight! It will be nice to have Bret back on our screens!

Bret Harrison captures faithful fans as Satan’s bounty hunter |
| Posted by in Uncategorized |
Bret Harrison listens to his fans.
The Oregon native plays Sam on CW’s “Reaper,” which returns for a second season Tuesday night at 8 on WLVI [website] (Ch. 56).
On his 21st birthday, Sam learned that his parents had sold his soul to the devil and he is contractually obligated to be Satan’s bounty hunter.
“I can’t tell the fans enough how much I appreciate their support,” Harrison said in a telephone interview from Los Angeles.
“Everybody who is into the show is extremely into it. Kevin Smith directed the pilot, and he was kind of a big inspiration to me on how much interacting with your fan base helps in terms of the creative process. If you can create a synergy with your fans, you know how to appreciate what they want.”
Harrison regularly communicates with fans via his Web site, krakoom.com.
He and the producers discovered fans wanted to see more of the relationships between the characters.
“That’s the key. The capturing of souls, I think that’s the backdrop.”
Viewers can expect the return of Ken Marino and Michael Ian Black as demons, a showdown with the man Sam thought was his father, big romances for Sam’s pals Sock (Tyler Labine) and Ben (Rick Gonzalez) and the introduction of a half-brother for Sam. Sam will also meet Alan (Sean Patrick Thomas), a man who successfully got out of his deal with the devil.
His romance with Andi (Missy Peregrym) will blossom now that she knows Sam’s secret.
“We actually explore Andi’s character in depth and see her as a person instead of a storytelling conflict device. There’s a really cool thing at the end that happens (Tuesday night) with Sam and Andi.”
When the series ended a year ago, Sam learned that he was actually the son of the devil (Ray Wise). Sam will continue to wrestle with this unsettling fact.
“Sam is always doing the right thing,” Harrison said. “He’s the hero you want to root for, but I am constantly trying to push him a little bit more toward the dark side and have him a little more flawed. Because I think it’s interesting to watch him go that way and give him a hole to crawl out of.”
The second season consists of 13 episodes, not the usual 22 typically ordered for a network series. Harrison isn’t bothered.
“Weirdly enough, I think 13 is perfect,” he said. “The way it unravels and tells the whole season-two arc, I thought it was perfect. I always think less is more. We packed a lot in those 13 episodes, and in every episode there are huge reveals. A lot of things happen.”

Some very interesting rumors have reached our ears about Reaper - Season 2 on DVD. The first season ran for eighteen episodes, airing on The CW from Fall 2007 to Spring 2008, and came to home video in the Fall 2008 timeframe. The second season, as reported at TVGuide.com, begins broadcast a week from tomorrow, on March 3rd. The CW has ordered 13 episodes, beginning with the season debut titled “Episode IV: A New Hope” (in which Sam, Sock and Ben return from a road trip to find out that they’ve been evicted from their swanky apartment, and fired from the Work Bench).
Our contacts in the industry tell us that the plan is for The CW to air all 13 episodes on thirteen consecutive Tuesdays, and after the 2nd season finale airs on Tuesday, May 26th, then Lionsgate will release Reaper - Season 2 on DVD exactly a week later, on June 2nd. Bret Harrison, Tyler Labine, Rick Gonzalez, Missy Peregrym, Valarie Rae Miller and Ray Wise are all back and joined by a number of guest stars, who I won’t reveal here due to possible spoilers. However, I guess it’s okay to mention that Kandyse McClure (Battlestar Galactica) returns as “Cassidy”, a character previously seen in the first season, and who is already known to be appearing in the second season premiere.
